The Spiritual Hunger of Generation Z

7/23/2025

Recent research points to a growing spiritual hunger among Generation Z, opening exciting new doors for church growth in Orange County. Don Crawford Senior, President of Crawford Media Group, shared on KBRT Radio (KBrite) how their team partnered with Barna to dig deeper into what today’s teens are thinking about faith. Through these studies and on‑air discussions, KBrite has been uncovering a striking truth: many teenagers—whether they identify as Christians or not—are eager to learn about Jesus. In fact, 77% of U.S. teens say they feel motivated to learn about Him, with over half reporting they are very motivated. This curiosity and openness are sparking fresh opportunities for churches to connect with young people in meaningful ways.

For Orange County churches, this shift is more than encouraging statistics; it’s a call to action. KBrite’s broadcasts and interviews have emphasized that while many teens are hesitant about organized religion, they are drawn to authentic conversations and communities that show God’s love in ways that matter to them. By creating safe spaces where teens can ask questions, explore faith, and see how the teachings of Jesus apply to their lives, churches can meet this generation right where they are.

As teens dive deeper into faith, churches that lean into authenticity and relationship‑building will see new growth and vibrant transformation. God is opening doors through this spiritual hunger, and through insights shared by outlets like KBrite, Orange County’s next wave of church growth could very well be led by a generation eager to know Him.
